Are your players unable to build, break blocks, or use items? These are the most likely causes:

Spawn Protection is Enabled

Spawn Protection is a feature that prevents non-operator players from altering a specified range of chunks surrounding the server's spawn. This feature was intended for servers that wish to have a set spawn build. This area can be changed or removed entirely by following these steps:

  1. Log into your Prisma account here: https://prisma.cubedhost.com/login

  2. Once you have logged in, select the server you wish to update.

  3. Select the “Stop” button and wait for your server status to show as “Stopped”.

  4. Navigate to "CUSTOMIZE" > "SETTINGS"

  5. Here, you'll find an option for "Protected Spawn Size". You can change this to any number you wish, or you can disable the feature by setting it to "0".

  6. Click "Save" at the bottom, and start the server.

The Game Mode is set to Adventure or Spectator

Only two game modes allow players to build: Creative and Survival. Adventure mode is a game mode meant for exploration, and will prevent players from altering blocks. However, they can still operate Redstone machinery such as levers and buttons. Spectator Mode prevents players from interacting with the world entirely - they can only fly around and observe. If you want players to build, you'll need to make sure the server's game mode is set to Creative or Survival. You can do so by following these steps:

  1. Log into your Prisma account here: https://prisma.cubedhost.com/login

  2. Once you have logged in, select the server you wish to update.

  3. Select the “Stop” button and wait for your server status to show as “Stopped”.

  4. Navigate to "CUSTOMIZE" > "SETTINGS"

  5. Here, you'll find a dropdown menu for "Game Mode". Select the mode you would like to be the server's default here.

  6. Click "Save" at the bottom, and start the server.

Essentials Protect and Anti-Build are Restricting Building

The Essentials Suite includes two add-on plugins, Essentials Protect and Essentials Anti-Build, which are for advanced users and require detailed configuration. The default configurations of these add-ons can cause issues where players can't build. Unless your server has a specific need for them, we recommend uninstalling them.

What should I include in my message to help the team help me?

Thanks for asking! If you're reaching out, it's always helpful to have as much key information as possible regarding the trouble you're facing. Please try to include responses to the following in your first message to our team so we can better understand what you and/or your players are experiencing and what we can do to help.

  1. Have you already tried any steps to resolve the issues you're experiencing? If so, what changes have you made? Have any of these changes helped at all?

  2. Are all players being affected or does it seem to be only a select few? If only certain players are being affected, please provide their usernames.

  3. Have you recently made any big changes on/to your server, such as changing the server type, adding any plugins/mods, and/or adding/removing datapacks?

If you're unsure of the answers to these questions, don't worry! Any information you can provide for the above should help and we appreciate your effort.

How long will it take for someone to get back to me?

Our average response time across all departments is typically anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours or more. Response times vary based on the department and the nature of the conversation. For example, you may experience longer wait times if you're expecting a response from our management team, development team, or if your conversation requires further investigation.

I feel like this is taking too long. Should I follow up or open a new conversation?

Our team responds to conversations in the order received or replied to based on a queue system. For this reason, we ask that you only open one conversation per request/concern and try to keep your responses need-based only. We understand the urgency but additional conversations and/or replies will only result in delays and confusion.
