What is a server icon?
Do you know those images that show up on your bookmarked servers? Those are server icons. These icons help identify each server in your list!
Here's an example! I've taken a screenshot of my bookmark for our staff team's testing site. The server icon is the CubedHost logo on the left.
How do I get a description like that next to the server icon?
The description below the name you set for the bookmarked server is called the Message of the Day ("MOTD") or server message. You can customize your MOTD through your server settings.
Are there any requirements for the server icon?
You can use any image you'd like to use, but there are some requirements!
The icon size should be 64 pixels by 64 pixels.
The file type must be PNG.
Once your image is sized and formatted correctly, name it
NOTE! During the upload process, you may notice
.png attached to the file's name. This is used to help the system identify the type of file you've uploaded. Do not modify it, as this can disrupt things.
How do I resize my image?
Most photo-editing tools, such as GIMP or Adobe Photoshop, can be used to modify the size of an image. Alternatively, you can use a web-based photo resizer.
How do I reformat my image so it becomes a PNG?
Most photo-editing tools, such as GIMP or Adobe Photoshop, allow you to export/save an image in a different format. Alternatively, you can use a web-based image converter.
How do I get the server icon onto my server?
Before you proceed: Make sure your image is a PNG, sized 64x64 pixels, and is named
server-icon. If your image does not meet these criteria, it will not work!
When you're ready, you'll need to access your file manager in Prisma. Do not open any specific folders, access files, or modify any settings for this. You should be in your server's root directory, which shows in your Current Path as
/. In the top-left of your panel, it should look like this:
Now, select the Browse button that's located in the top-right of the file manager in the Upload box. This should pull up a window on your computer where you can select your server icon file, then upload it to the server.
NOTE! When the file is shown in the upload box, it will display as
server-icon.png. This is okay! The file extension is added to help identify the file. Do not panic!
Allow the upload to complete. Once done, you should be able to find the server-icon file in your file manager. You don't need to do anything with this, but it's good to know it's where it should be!
Last but not least, restart your server. This will apply the icon immediately.
You're all set!
Can I upload the image using FTP?
Yes, you can absolutely use FTP to upload files like your server icon to your server.
